The company has OSRS gold  applied for two trademarks in UK with one trademark for "OSRS Gold" and another that is for "RS Gold" The filing stating that the company has registered the use of the phrases as words. This would presumably halt third-party websites from being able to advertise that they sell RS Gold.

A simple Google search for either of these terms returns hundreds of websites, majority of them with one of the terms mentioned in their URLs. They offer Rupees in RuneScape to exchange real Rupees. It was announced on Oct. 13 that Jagex announced that it was ending for "real-world trade". In a post on their blog "The RuneScape Team" explained that "gold bought through RWT real-world trading poses a threat to any online game featuring a tradeable currency."

Jagex announces that it will begin sending "messages to those that we've identified to be involved with RWT" within "the next few hours". "For anyone who was involved, we want to be clear that this is the one und only caution," the company added.

It was also announced it was going to be a PvP game mode Duel Arena, would have sweeping changes, which included stricter enforcement of the game's code of conduct in order to encourage more positive play. Jagex states that Duel Arena "has been a catalyst to this kind of toxic behavior".

Before that, however publishers say that "short-term measures" will be in place "until our teams of developers are able to complete a major overhaul that completely cheap RS gold  replaces Duel Arena next year."
